Zef- a Lebanese Indie-Pop singer and songwriter with the elements of the blue sea spread within him, which is no surprise as he is from the shores of Byblos.

His journey began back in 2011 when Zef started performing on the sidewalks of his hometown in the old souk of Byblos. That’s where producers and venue owners spotted him and realized he was yet another hidden gem. It is at that moment that his musical career unraveled into a beautiful path that has brought him to where he stands today.

Recently, he has released his debut single “Chi Nhar” that is inspired by the serenity and chaos of the Mediterranean Sea. All of his music has a touch of Coldplay’s classics and Fairuz’s warmth, and you can evidently feel it in “Chi Nhar”.

To Zef the water element fits spontaneously into his music, it’s the only way he feels comfortable when composing his tunes. As you listen to Zef sing you can relate to a lot of what refers to the sea in most of his songs, through both the mood that’s set and the lyrics.

“Chi Nhar”, his debut music video, has a unique feel to it. Its art lies in the way it is taken through a 3:40 reversed shot, as Zef also memorized the lyrics in reverse to lip-sync with the original speed of the song. It represents life’s journey from birth to death through a single walk on the sea-shore, linking to the chorus that includes, نحنا جينا عالدنيي مشوار، بدِك نمشيها، سوا عالرايق”

“‎.ننطر النجوم، لتنطفي

We cannot help but give a huge round of applause and our full respect to the team and friends that have supported and worked with Zef throughout this journey (and always will), especially Anthony from Adonis, who was the first to suggest that Zef starts singing in Arabic.

Stay tuned, there are plenty more of these spectacular singles coming up soon, so expect a second release.
