Time: “I’ve changed you”

Where does time go?

Yesterday, I sat in bed and decided to go through some old pictures. Yeah, I teared up as I smiled. It’s too fast, this life. You go through it day by day and you don’t seem to notice how much it has changed you — time that is. You feel like things are just constant, it’s just another day and “ugh what a routine”. But on the contrary, if you step back you’d notice how it’s all changed, every single part of it.

There are no moments alike, let alone a compilation of days, months, and years. You’re definitely not who you were just yesterday before you went to bed. You wake up and you’re already a new person, one with new hopes, different desires, and thoughts that have changed the way you feel. Hell, you meet one new person, spend a few hours with them, and you’re already seeing things differently.

Every day, you are literally one new step closer to seeing people differently and most of the time understanding the reasons behind what has happened earlier. You learn, you take it in, and then you naturally change, slowly. It’s the type of change that you cannot see when you’re standing too close.

Change is inevitable, we are made to get patched up, to add pieces to ourselves that we never thought we’d need, and how we do it and which direction we take from thereon is up to us.

If you look at the bigger picture and understand that nothing of what has happened is personal but rather phases that make us who we are, we’d be able to accept it all and become better people. It’s about helping yourself see the truth behind every incident and every experience.

Allow this process to grow. Make it bring out the best in you, no matter what life has taught you, know that it’s only for your good. Those who have hurt you helped you, those who disrespected you showed you their worth, and every crisis brought out a part in you-you never thought you had.
